how can i disable my firewall?

i have a linksys cable/dsl router. i am wondering if anyone know how to disable the firewall because i cant upload anything on IRC or let peopleget on my FTP. please help me.

set your computer's ip to be the dmz host and the firewall will bypass you.

Don't do that. All you have to do is open the correct ports. like forward port 21 for FTP. Also make sure that you don't have "Block WAN requests enabled".

my ftp is at port 21. it still doesnt let me upload. can someone please help me. I have AIM. My screen name is Shiznickel19 for aim. I dont know what the wan thing is.

WAN is the internet side of your router. LAN is your private side. Don't disable anything. Forward the correct ports to your computer.

In order to forward ports, you have to disable DHCP and assign permanent IP addresses to your computers.

Just a thought, but does the linksys let you port forward ranges? If not, then he cant share files on irc without enabling dmz. If it does port forward ranges then he shouldnt have a problem.
