I just ran netstat -a in my Windows 2000 operating system and noticed that it sowed ports 1025, 1027,1028 & 6101 Listening. I can't figure out what those ports are open for. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I read to check your "services" file in Win 2000, as a reference to find info regarding ports used by your system.
I will give you some links to sites that list what ports are commonly used for:
http://www.isi.edu/in-notes/iana/assignments/port-numbers
http://www.nohack.net/ports.html
http://www.thornberg.com/firewall/rfc1700.htm
http://www.sockets.com/services.htm

Port 1025 is used for Network Blackjack
Ports 1027 & 1028 are unassigned , but 1027 can be an ICQ port
Port 6101 SynchroNet, X Window System

If you were interested in knowing ports that are commonly used for trojans, here are some:

Thanks for this information. I had seen that 1025 was Network Blackjack but what the heck is that? I wasn't doing any online games- odd.
