I have two routers connected on a network; a wireless netgear upstairs and a wired netgear downstairs. The internet is connected to the wired router in the basement. I have two laptop that connect to the wireless upstairs which is connected to the wired router in the basement. Is there a way to set up this network up so that I can see and access all the files on the computers downstairs and vice versa? I have access to a 4 port switch and several cables. I need two routers because of the laptops and the need for more than four computers in the house.

Take your second router..the wireless one. Change its LAN IP address to be in the same range as your primary router (example..if primary router is 192.168.1.1, make your wireless router 192.168.1.253).
Disable DHCP on the wireless router.
Now uplink the wireless router to your primary router using a LAN port on each of them, you will not use the WAN/Internet port of the wireless router.

Now its basically just acting as an access point.
