Would anyone care to share their experience with the amount of resources that their firewall is sucking out of the system? I just found that zone alarm is eating 5% to 6% of my resources and would like to find out if anyone with Tiny is seeing the samething or less.
Thanks!

My only problem is that I'm a stand alone system and I just can't believe what my eyes saw as far a resource drain. I like zone alarm but, if I can get another secure personal firewall that doesn't act like the IRS does at tax time, on my system, I'll be much happier!

I realize that this may not be that much of a drain but, I think thats just too much.

Click os "Start"> "Run"> type "msconfig"> go to "Startup" tab, uncheck the line that has the minilog in it, then click "OK", then restart your puter. Your resource usage will drop considerably...

I'll try it out! What purpose does the darn minilog have anyway, would you happen to know by chance?

Just another form of a log. All your are doing is keeping it out of start up, you won't miss it... http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/wink.gif

If you disable the "minilog" does ZAPro still do any logging in the program under the Alerts tab?

Just after startup, I have 77%free. If I close ZA and reboot I have 83% free. I tried unchecking the minilog and it didn't seem to have any effect. By unchecking it, it did not stop the usual logging that we like to know about. I'm just going to have to do mre investigation into this. Heck, I might even be chasing a black cat in the dark. I've been known to do that!

You will not lose your alerts logging. That much I have confirmed.

I run ZA w/o log at 5%. Seems a VERY small price to pay, considering what it does for me.

Is a priority issue.

If the time ever comes when I have to Worry about 5%, I will just add some RAM.

Ram won't make a bit of differance. It will still eat up your system resources.I have already went that route and it still used up my system resoures. So i just switch to a different firewall which was free to. TinyFirewall and it works great. I have gain back the 6% resource lost.Plus when you check on the fire wall satistic it has a higher rateing then zonealarm for protection.
