I am trying to set up a secure network, adding a new Vista machine. I am able to easily connect the vista machine if I disable security on the wireless router but if I enable security with a shared key, I get an error message on the vista saying the settings on this computer do not match the network settings. Can anyone tell me how to put the shared key into the vista machine?
Thanks!

Try updating the firmware on the router
Try updating the wireless NIC drivers on the PC
Using WPA or WPA2?

What did you set the key to in your router config? Does it match what vista wants?

Yes, from the XP machine.
You should be able to see what your shared key is there.

Not a problem to see key. Problem is how to input that key to new Vista machine.

Go to Network and Sharing center..basically the control panel for your network.
On the left side, click on "Manage Wireless Networks"
In there you'll see a list of all the wireless networks you've set up this PC on, highlight the one you want to manage...right click, select properties, click on the security tab..and you can change your security type and passkey there.
