At the @Home member services page they do not mention having a firewall. They only mention/suggest virus software. Why would they not have or suggest the use of a firewall?

Thanks,
Scott

You have a very good point! Most users have no idea of the risks involved with a cable connection and static IP..@home would be wise to recommend a firewall such as ZoneAlarm and unbinding network protocals as per GRC research.

All I can find in their security recommendations is this (http://home-help.excite.com/managing_acct/security/privacy.html) page.

Go HERE (http://grc.com/su-bondage.htm) and HERE (http://www.symantec.com/SecurityCheck/netbios.html) to learn how to do it. And if you want to learn why, go HERE (http://cable-dsl.home.att.net/netbios.htm)
