Hello,
I recently purchased the @home service, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on how to make this sucker go faster? And if the rumor is true that firewalls decrease bandwith. What firewall program do you recommend, if any? If i have file and print sharing turned off, no one can go on my computer, right? Those are some of the many questions I have. Thanks

Faster? Yes, You can tweak your computer for broadband. Look under the tweak section off the main page.

Firewalls do not take away very much bandwidth. They are just looking at packets and software firewalls do this at a layer that is a little higher (or lower) on the OSI Modle which makes them a little slower, but you would never notice the difference (nanoseconds). I recommend Zone Alarm (software). But my first preferrence is a hardware firewall / router.

Your not safe just by turning off NETBIOS support (F/P Sharing).
There are all kinds of security risks that can make your system a target, this is just one.

Peace,
FunK
