I noticed on my workstation in the cookies.txt that it had the following info on it:

# HTTP Cookie File
# http://www.netscape.com/newsref/std/cookie_spec.html
# This is a generated file! Do not edit.
# To delete cookies, use the Cookie Manager.

.netscape.com TRUE / FALSE 1293840008 UIDC 15.252.53.18:0974309881:361647

The UIDC had my IP address on it. Does this mean that netscape checks my ip address everytime I use it or go online? And what are the other numbers before and after the IP address?

denolth, I use IE aand have never used Netscape, so I really can only direct you to some links that can explain it better. http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,40191,00.html
there is some links in that site also.

you can test the security holes in Netscape here: http://users.rcn.com/rms2000/security/email/plugins.htm
This site will tell you about your browser; http://users.rcn.com/rms2000/security/email/appls.htm
This tells about holes a hacker found in Netscape; http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,38087,00.html
This tells of a class action suit against Netscape; http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,1283,37435,00.html
Just let me know if you need some more links

The Brown Office bug was fixed with the implementation of Netscape 4.75

It was a bug in Netsacpes Java code that would allow a webserver to browse the host files and directorys. Essentially it turned Netscape into a FTP server http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

If you use Netscape you can work around this by using Sun's Java Plugin for Netscape. Which just happens to be installed with Netscape 6.0 by default.
