Anyone know if the IPSec/VPN protocols (AH, ESP, etc) can be allowed thru the Netgear RT314 or LinkSys BEFSR41 boxes? We have remote users that need to use a VPN client to connect to the Corporate network and we'd like to be able to issue a list of which Cable/DSL routers are usable.
TIA!!!

I believe that your router must have specific VPN capabilities. It would normally be listed in the router name, ex. SOHO Firebox with VPN. You may get a better answer if you post this in the Networking Forum, as my knowledge is limited on this.

If you are looking for types to purchase with VPN, I tell tell you of a few:
SOHO Firebox W/ VPN (10 users) $500
SonicWall W/VPN (4 users) $440
FoxBox Pro $2739
This is a comparison chart: http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/hwrouter_chart.htm
This is Cisco, they have some good products: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/44/jump/routers.shtml
Here are some more reviews: http://www.storagereview.com/ http://www.netopia.com/equipment/routers/ http://www.netgear.com/products/routers.shtml#rt311 http://www.netgear.com/ http://www.practicallynetworked.com/ http://www.watchguard.com/sales/pricelist.asp
Hopefully some of these will answer your questions. Let me know..

I guess I wasn't very clear in my original post... I have a VPN box - at work. I also have a software VPN client that installs at home and connects me to the VPN box at work. What I need to know is, will my VPN client be able to get through my DSL/Cable router?
