Hi,

Anti-Trojan 5.00.263 tells me they are open. Any ideas how I close ports 135 & 1029?

Thanks

Hi Magg, What firewall are you using?

Hi JANDOENT

Black Ice Defender, latest release/patch.

Looked in the firewall.ini(?) and everything appears 'reject' so I don't know what to do. Any ideas?

Hi Magg, Black Ice has too many holes in it. Why don't you Email me? If you want to see the main problems, check this out: http://sysopt.earthweb.com/reviews/firewall/index.html

Hey JANDOENT thanks for filling us in on that site, I've been using BID for awhile now and after reading that article I downloaded Sygate and currently i'm running both of them.

Thanks again.

rbrescia, Hi. I can't really say if 2 software firewalls are better than one. I have only heard of a couple of people saying that their 2nd firewall caught activity that their first firewall missed. Usually the reports have been that the 2nd firewall never shows any activity. Set your Speed Guide preferences to "Show All" topics and look thru some past threads. (With the "occlusion" to my left eye, it is very hard for me to see to read now)You are probably just wasting resources on Black Ice, and may have a conflict with 2 software proggies attempting to do the same thing at the same time. I honestly cannot prove this with facts, but in thinking about it....

JANDOENT I'll try disabling BID although I'm a little pissed I spent the $39 bucks on it. LOL

How long ago did you buy it? Sometimes, some manufacturers will give you your money back if you don't like their program. Don't even try from the store that you bought it from, as no stores can really warranty programs. Try reading the license clause where you accepted the program and see what it says. Also contact their customer service, it certainly won't hurt to try. (don't yell or scream at the rep. just tell them that the program doesn't meet your expectations or needs and you would like to get a refund. Also, in the future you will consider their others products)Hope this helps.
