security scan @Home

My port scanner reported an authorized security scan from @home cable service. It happened last friday night after I had spent some time pinging different sites. Obviously since i use their service, they can scan me. If iuse a firewall (ZoneAlarm) what info can they get? Itried to contact them about it, but no reply. What would be their purpose.

They are usually scanning ports for people running servers, ftp, etc.
