I have the single port Linksys Router and I was wondering, is this enough protection from intruders? As I understand it, the router doesn't do Stateful Packet Inspection, but NAT will drop all invalid packets. I used Zone Alarm for a while when I first got the router, but I didn't get any logged attempts so I uninstalled it.

It doesn't hurt to have both hardware and software protection. Make sure that you have them set up correctly. dmsmed will probably tell you some settings to check on your linky if you ask him.

Probably the best thing to use a software firewall for when you have the nat router is to inspect outgoing traffic.

That way you know if your computer is suddenly trying to connect to something that it shouldn't be.
