wierd problem with LAN, caused by WinGate

I have been trying to set up my network to share internet connection(one-way cable modem). After installing Vicomsofte (tried: Surfdoubler, Softrouter and Gateway) and working on it for 3 weeks with their tech support (playing e-mail tag), finaly last week they said that they will call me on friday and work it out over the phone, I haven't heard anything since then, so today I decided to try WinGate, Half way through Wingate Network Setup program, I got a blue screen crash, so I restarted my pc and removed WinGate and restored all my original settings, everything is fine except other pcs can see me and access my pc but I can't see any one, I have checked the setting several times, removed the TCP/IP and reinstalled it again and checked IP address, Workgroup, Subnet mask, DNS, IPX/SPX, Netbios, File and Printer sharing, all correct and same as before. Tried windows troubleshooter, still no good.

Any help would be appreciated, I hate to reinstall 98se again.

Try removeing the whole network in your main computer and then reinstall it.It might
have mess up a couple of files for your
protocols without you knowing.Give it a try

I did try it Storm, it still not working, but it was worth a shot. I might have to reinstall 98se, but I'm going to wait a little longer before I do that.

Are your drives set up for shareing? Didn't
see where you mention that so thought I would
ask in case they weren't. This will cause the problem you have.

Have you tried turning off your master browser settings in file/print sharing..I've seen that mess up a network..

I just tried it Fuzzie, It didn't make a difference.
What I don't understand is: usualy if there is problem with card or cables or something like that and you start network neighborhood, it take a few seconds before you get the Net. Nei icon and no network machines in the window, my program comes up instantly with the icon no network PCs.
