DISABLE PING!!!

OKay, I am wondering how do i disable ppl being able to ping me and see if i am on the net....i don't like that caus if i block someone on msn instant messenger, i don;t want the pinging me and seeing that i am on and u know.....ect. So is there like a setting that i can use....by the way i have rogers@home...uum win98se...uum terayon cable modem...i think that covers it all...thanx everyone that can help
