Uplink your computer to one of the LAN ports on the back of the router, log into the web admin of the router following the instructions that came with it.

By default with Linksys, http://192.168.1.1
admin/admin
(older Linksys routers were username:<blank>/password:admin )

Head to the wireless management section, enable security..and select WPA or WPA2. Type in a good security key...fairly long, mixed with some numbers is even better. Jot it down. Also personalize the SSID..so you know what wireless networks is yours (separating yours from your neighbors in case they have a Linksys one too).

Change the default admin password for your routers web admin. Make a note of it.

Apply those settings.

While you're at it..tis best to download the latest firmware for your router, and upload it..so your router is running with the latest version. Often improves stability and compatibility.

Now, with your wireless computer....view availabe wireless networks..find yours (The SSID you made)...connect...enter your security key twice..and done!
