Good day,

I did some of the broadband tweaks suggested in this site and though my internet seems to have improved, whenever I'm playing wow and open mozilla, or use ventrillo, i get lag spikes in the game, (though my in-game latency bar doesn't change) I used to surf and play wow at the same time, all the time, but after using the tcp optimizer, tweaking dns caching, TcpTimedWaitDelay, and checksum offloading, also whether enabling nagle's algorithm or not, i still get the same problems. I was wondering if i did something wrong.

here is my tcp analysis:

I'd like to find out what's causing the problem

btw, my MTU is stuck at 1450, because I think the ethernet modem provided by my ISP Globe broadband, cannot be tinkered with.

At the TCP optimizer, the slider is at 1024

Raise your mtu to 1942 that is probably what is slowing you up

whether I change the MTU via TCP optimizer or directly through the registry the tcp analyzer shows an mtu of 1450. I can't access my router either.

call the provider maybe they could adjust if for ya thats what is thorwing you off if they can't do it that means they give that value to capp the speed.

What kind of modem are you using ?

Do a tracert yahoo.com and post.

Hmm....are you on wireless? If your on a wireless router, then it may not be able to handle too many packets at the same time. i knew that before when I had a DI-524, guild wars would lag whenever I had a lot of stuff happening ie a lag spike and sometimes disconnect. Then when I upgraded to a linksys WRT54GL this problem went away (with tomato firmware).

For gaming, a lower MTU actually helps. Tested with guild wars, mabinogi etc. I use a MTU value of 368 personally. It lowers my download speed from 6.9MBPs to around 5ish but overall latency is better and it shows with even just browsing the web.

1 important tweak is disabling nagle. Basically it involves creating a new Dword called TcpAckFrequency and setting the value to 1 in your registry. You may want to look that up. It basically cuts your latency in half.

Doing a tracert to the game server would show us whether it's a problem with your wireless router, your ISP, or somewhere in between though.
