general router question

i was just wondering what kind of stuff could intruders do if they were possibly able to remotely access my router. don't get me wrong if this sounds like a stupid question because i really want to know. i understand the importance of changing the default password on the router but i just want to know what are the risks once someone has got into it.

Several things that quickly come to mind....
*Change your internet connection settings so you lose your internet
*Put a computer into the DMZ....and hack into it
*Mess around with opening/forwarding ports
*If your router support VPN...setup an account for themselves to they can gain access to your entire network
*Possibly see your wireless security key
