I have a question, my verizon dsl is not performing the way it should be. If im not mistaken for $37 a month I should be getting a 3.0down/768up speed, but after taking numerous speed tests I am only getting 1.5/384, aprox half of what I should be getting. My question is that is there any way to get the speed im supposed to get via tweaks mabey? I have tried doing a direct connect to the modem but there is no improvement there. And just in case, I am using a Westel Model 2200 Modem and a Linksys WRT54G router and have a very stable connection. Any help is appreciated.

edit: heres a speed test ressult just in case

Well you rwin is kinda high for that connection if you can give a verizion a call see how far you are from the c.o. to verify the 3000. If you are more then 18,000 feet i belive the slower you will get.

Try theasae in the optimizer move the dsl modem away from halogen lights ,and other electrical devices. If you are in an older house maybe look into re wirring could help the speed.

thanks ill give thoose a try, and yes i am in a fairly old house, main part is over 100 years old

Edit: I tried those settings in the optimizer and no improvement, I'll have to give Verizon call, possibly when I got my DSL, 3.0/768 wasnt around and they might have purposely forgot to upgrade my lines.

Yep.. I would give Verizon a call.. I used to have the 1.5 / 368 (or whatever).. until I called them and asked them to upgrade me to the 3 mb / 768 up tier.

You are getting what you should be getting now.. I'm glad that it wasn't your lines.. I used to live "3" streets away from the CO, and I used to get around the same speeds that you are getting.. until I moved and concededly lived on the ""same" road as the CO.. I then used to get a bit over the d/l cap.. not be much though..

Im glad too since my lines are bare and worn out, apparently I live outside the boundaries for DSL, but I got it anyways lol.
