Quick question:

I have Verizon Fios, I get 18-21 down, and 3-5 up on all the speed tests I goto.

When I run my ftp server and my friend in a college (not far) dorm maxes out at 500-580 kbps, which seems to be the same for me at work (t1 line) and other friends with cable/dsl etc etc. I have a router, yes, have tried different firmware, and messed with a bunch of settings...Anything else to try? I know not to expect to upload at max speeds, but I figured it could be more.

500-580kbps or 500-580KB/sec?

IF its the later then thats 4000 - 4640kbps, fairly close to your full upload.

It is kBps, which just seems weird to me seeing as how right now I'm seeding 4 torrents, all at over 400 kB/s each...

You capitalized the B, making it bytes, which makes things very confusing, plus f they were downloading from you it should be listed in bytes as well, making it quite normal that they are getting that speed.
