As you can see I am new here so I have a newb question...

I have a line of sight internet connection. It uses a canopy system by maxrad or radmax. My first question is what actually is it? I have done some research, but I cannot find out actually what it is...as in Not DLS or cable or dial up. I am limited to around 1.5Mbs total. Here is my current test...

It's a point to point wireless system...used in CANs/Metro networks..and some private WANs.

Think of it as sort of a wireless T-1..although you can get more bandwidth out of a Canopy than the measly 1.5 megs of a T-1.

I am guessing my ISP is limiting me? The posted scores are about what it runs normally. I did some searching to speed it up but the only thing i have found is that you can use a plug to get into the system, but I think that is a bit over my head at the moment. Is there somewhere around here that i can go to speed things up?

Are you solo...or on a network with other users? (or sharing the subscriber module with other "tenants" in your building or something like that?

You can try the SG TCP Optimizer. I'd recommend setting MTU to 1500.

Also they do require fine tuning..the subscriber module..and on the ISPs end. You may want to call and have them check things...if you are to get a 1.5 meg package..you should be getting near that....the technology can handle well above that, I have a few clients on 2 meg ones...and we're doing a 15 meg one soon.
