I am helping someone who has XP x64 on his computer. He is stuck in the loop with the Windows Advanced Startup Menu, no mode will boot. He does not have his XP x64 CD and I don't have one either.
1. Am I correct in thinking you have to use the corresponding version, in this case x64, to boot to recovery console and try to fix it, like with CHKDSK or FIXMBR?
2. If all else fails, I could reload him with just XP Pro. Would that install on his system or is the hardware so inherently different on systems running x64 that it would not work.
