Hello, I was having a poor (-11dB) downstream signal. I rewired part of the house to get the signal to the cable modem through less splitters and the power level is now +12.4dB.

I know it's supposed to be between -15 and +15dB but was wondering if having too much can be bad? Is -11 worse or better than +12?

Thanks for the help!:)

Try placing a splitter into the line before connecting it to the modem? Then check SNR and Upstream power level too.

I placed two splitters in between the modem and incoming line and got a 4.4dB downstream power level and a 39.5 SNR. Upstream is at 35.7dB.
