problem with modem

i got a motorolla sb5120 cable modem. my os is windows vista

when i turn off my pc the activity/pc light turns off. i would like to know if its possbile to change taht for when i turn of pc the activity/pc light stays on like it did with my older pc.

How are you connected to the modem? Direct connection to the PC via USB, network cable or is the modem connected to a router?

I'm assuming that you're connected via USB.

See if you can enable the "wake via lan" setting in yer bios, that might keep it communicating.

Depends on the bios, just root around in there some.

got it had to enbled "wake from shutdown" in advance settinsg of my nic

get sp1 as well if you haven't already it helps with networking issues
