This is the message I get on a blue screen each time I boot up XP Pro. This only started showing up a week ago. Any ideas?

"Can't open log/summary file"
That's not a common or standard BSOD message. There's likelt some app that loads at boot that utilizes a certain log file or log summary file, such as SQL server. Try booting in Safe Mode and search around for startup items and disable ones you don't need loading at boot. In the chance that it's a Windows message related to Windows logs, boot in safe mode and clear out all the events in Control Panel/Admin Tools/Event Viewer.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I did what you suggested and got the "Couldn't read summary/log file..." message again. This occurs before the mouse pointer shows up on a black screen, but after the screen has the light blue background with dark blue bars on top and bottom. It's the same screen that shows up when Windows wants to run checkdisk.
