I just installed Firefox 2.0.0.13, as I was going to start using it as my browser instead of IE. Now I used Firefox a couple years ago, but went back to IE, no over-riding reason. Anyway, my Logitech Laser Mouse has a side button programmed for "back". This works in IE as well as the old Netscape I have on the PC. But it does not work for Firefox. Anyone know why or have a fix?
Thanks!

I've got a logitech mouse and my buttons work fine, the left side are back and forward and the others on top are up and down with the roller all working. So perhaps its your drivers?

I'll look for an updated driver. But strange it works in IE & Netscape. Are there any settings in Firefox that might affect it?

No luck. I have the MX1000 Laser. Downloaded the latest driver from Logitech and when I installed it, my mouse wouldn't even work. Some error about unable to use a registry hook. Fortunately I did a System Restore first. Went back to that restore point, now it is as before, but no back button in Firefox.
Any other help would be appreciated.

Make sure Firefox is selected in the mouse menu program for that feature.
Really it's probably easier to set it to all programs.

In the SW for the mouse, I have a checkbox for "Application Specific Settings" but no drop down where it lists programs, as the HELP indicates. Any idea why the latest one would not work?
It's not a FF issue, it's a Logitech issue. Logitech has has tons of issues with XP & Vista, the MSKB has many articles w/ handlings for Logitech software and drivers, moat all say to get the latest Logitech software downloaded and installed (not just the drivers but also the software).
I always persuade ny clients to dump Logitech devices completely due to the continuous issues on changing systems.

Bah logitech are some of the best devices.
I dont use the logitech drivers, just the generic one XP installed and the mouse is fine and the buttons all work fine.

agreed, the ms drivers work well, but the logitech drivers and logitech software for the most part cause too many issues.

I love Logitechs devices...but hate hate HATE their software/drivers. Those drivers are almost as nasty for a system as Lexmark/DellSmell printer drivers.
Microsoft native drivers always work perfectly for their mice and joysticks. Longtime MX500 user here...those 2 buttons worked right out of the box default settings...nothing needed to be done in Firefox, nor on the mouse control end.
I have been using MX revolution mice for more than one year. I have three of them in three PCs, with XP pro, Vista Ultimate, and Vista Home Premium. Also, I have one diNovo Edge keyboard. All of them working fine without their software.
The trick is don't install their software, the native OS driver works very well. Only two functions don't work for this mouse is to move the page left or right horizontally with the top wheel and toggling between multiple programs with the side wheel. I feel there is no advantage with that functions; moreover, cluttering the page with toggle pop up menu.
Uninstall their software, try it, that may release any restriction to a specific program.

I originally had my Logitech MX-1000 with only the native drivers. The back button worked in IE, but not in Netscape, until I loaded the Logitech Driver.

Which OS are you running?
I am just trying to see some simple things here. I am assuming the USB receiver was in the port while you were installing the Firefox. Take it out and reboot the PC and plug it in. Any changes?
Also, try to change the default browser to Firefox or back and forth...Sometimes very weired things where there is no explanation for.. why? or any logic...
Personally, I use IE, Netscape, and Firefox with XP, and Vista OS. I have no problem with MX Revolution or diNovo Edge keyboard without their utility software.

Well I tried reinstalling the latest Logitech driver, only this time, shutdown Comodo Firewall first. That seemed to do the trick. Got it installed and Firefox the back button worked. But, with the latest driver, the movement of the mouse was inconsistent, sometimes I would get unexpected stalls when moving it. Anyway, I rolled back to the earlier driver and went back to using IE. Mainly because I did not like the way some web pages came up. For example, on My Yahoo I did not see my avatar. On Home Theater Forum, if I clicked on the Forum Jump dropdown, instead of the list coming up with the current Forum selected, it would always come up on the top entry with all the entries showing below the dropdown. In IE, the dropdown expanded both above and below.
In Firefox, disable the "smooth scrolling" feature.
