slow wireless download speed (wrt54g)

Hello,

I have the above mentioned router, v7 i think if i'm not mistaken. It's hooked up to a computer through a wired connection and to a laptop through a wireless connection. When i try downloading stuff from rapidshare for example on my computer (wired), i am able to download at the speed i'm supposed to get with the internet connection i'm susbscribed to, which is 50-60KB/s. However, through my laptop (wireless), the download speed drops to 30KB/s.

Is there any way i can fix this? Any settings i'm supposed to change on my router or laptop? I've already tried updating my network card driver and my router has the latest firmware installed. WPA is enabled on my router and also mac filtering.

You can also use the Windows Task Manager’s Applications tab to see which applications are running on a specific PC. To save network bandwidth, close any applications that aren’t in use or that take lots of network bandwidth, such as BitTorrent..
