hello, im trying to forward a few ports for azureus and world of warcraft but i cant seem to access my routers configuration. i tried typing 192.168.0.1 but the browser shows a blank screen that says that there is a dns error. I dont remember changing the ip address of my router.

since typing 192.168.0.1 wont work, s there a way to find out what my routers ip address is? or is there any altnernate solution to forward ports with out changing the routers configuration directly?

thanks and any help will be appreciated.

In most cases the default router IP is 192.168.1.1

Usually by default also there is no username and the password is admin

Make sure you change that though right away.

Start==>Run==>CMD <enter key>
IPCONFIG /ALL <enter key>

Jot down the gateway, which might also be the same as your DHCP server

That's most likely the IP address of your router.

192.168.0.1 it is according to your computers IP info...and that's the default IP of older model DLink routers..such as yours.

What browser are you using?

Is your PC clean/free from ad/spy/malware? Good updated antivirus program installed? TCP/Winsock repair utility may help if your winsock is infested.

Although...you say laptop only 2x days old..making me think it may be Vista..and I don't believe this utility is for Vista..just 2K and XP.

You connecting via ethernet cable or wireless?

Tried it with IE just for giggles?

Any other PC on the network to try?

Can you try it with an ethernet cable..and skip the wireless part.

Sometimes routers hang up a bit...try power cycling the router.

Once you get in..ensure latest firmware is on the router.
