Hi,
When I first installed TCP/IP Optimizer on my laptop, my 8 Mbps connection more than doubled as seen from a speed test - my wireless card settings must have been previously inhibiting the speed from the router somehow. However, a few months later, I now seem to be getting much slower speeds half the time, where an Internet page would often take ages to load, then not load at all - page cannot be displayed error appears. I usually use Firefox, and when opening IE, the problem never seems to occur, and the same problem pages would load very fast with no issue. I've checked for spyware and viruses.
Below are my analyser results:

Hi trogers, thanks for your replies.
I changed the settings and will see if they solve the issue. I also forgot to mention before that I had used the program FireTune for Firefox before to try and solve the problem.

So far so good. I also used some tweaks as suggested in this website http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=10339
Cheers trogers.
You may want to check these settings for Firefox as well (some overlap with what you've already done):

Thanks Philip.
Your initial issue, that pages load partially, or not at all can be related to the Firefox tweaking.
If you set the concurrent connections to a server to a very high number (over 8), some web servers may drop additional connections, causing retransmissions/incomplete pages.
This would also explain the fact it only affects Firefox, if you tweaked it using very aggressive settings.

Hi Philip,
I think I had maybe changed a setting before, due to seeing some suggestion online, which explains why Internet Explorer never seemed to be affected.

Hi,
I seem to be experiencing issues again, having downloaded and enabled the settings (plus Internet settings) of the program TuneXP on my main desktop pc - which has experienced no problems, and this laptop, which receives a wireless Internet connection. The issue is with the laptop only.
I disabled the effects of TuneXP for each setting, and ran TCP Optimizer again, but the problem remains. Both Firefox and IE suffer - I register a broadband speed test result of 83 kbps, when I used to get at least 5000 kbps, having a 8 Mbps Internet connection.

Test your speed at http://speedtest.net (closest and several servers nearby)

I get d/l speeds of 3603 kbps and u/l of 347 kbps.
I realise the issue may be with the wireless connection, as the connection has been connecting and disconnecting. My wireless connection, "kangaroo", would disconnect and connect again, with the Wireless Network Connection tray notification showing connection to "kangaroo(unsecured)". I think it must be timing out.
Would appreciate if anyone could let me know what settings I need to correct to fix this.

High and irregular ping times !
Try Relocating modem/router to some place that are a few feet away from ALL other electrical devices, including apart from each other !
Also, make sure you do not coil up any excess length of signal or power cables.

The issue has only been occuring very recently, really since installing TuneXP on the main PC connected to the router, and installing it onto this laptop. I have now uninstalled and disabled all of Tune XP's settings, but it must have screwed up the wireless settings somehow. I have also done a System Restore.
Before this issue, the wireless has been working pretty much perfectly. I use WPA-PSK TKIP encryption, and IEEE 802.1x authentication is not enabled. I was thinking that there was just some setting that TuneXP had altered, that I could now correct. Would appreciate any other suggestions!

I've uninstalled the wireless card driver and software, and I haven't had any real issues so far.
Thanks for the suggestions Rollingstone.
