This has just recently started happening. The internet will work fine until there is a call recieved or being sent. For the duration of the call, the signal indicator on the modem will continue to blink and internet will not be accessible during that period. Im on 256k DSL connection using the ISP provided no name modem. A cable from the phone output connects to a splitter and from there one goes to the telephone and one goes to the modem. I tried using a filter between the splitter and phone but still the problem exists.
Would appreciate some advice/suggestions before i contact my ISP.
Thanks,
Squall.

Are you using a cordless phone? And the phone set and modem are placed next to each other?

The phone is in a different room and the modem is in my room. The phone is a cordless one. The one connected to the splitter is the main unit (phone) and there is a cordless one in the living room.
The setup has been the same for the past year and there hasnt been any trouble until now.

Turn off power to the modem and relocate it on to the floor under the comp table, away from ALL other electrical devices. See if this will stop your internet disconnection.
I'd definitely use filters before any/all phones, and call your ISP. It is either a line issue, faulty modem, or some interference as trogers suggested.

The modem has always been placed away from the computer. Its placed on a small table beside the computer table, quite far from any electrical devices.
Could a faulty splitter be causing this? The problem only happens when the phone is in use. The signal indicator will keep blinking and not stablize until the call has ended.

Yes, it is likely a faulty splitter. Get it replaced.

Replaced splitter , problem still exists.
I have informed my ISP and they will be a technician over in 2-3 days :(
