I think there is a problem with Vista / router/ networking . I tried all different alternatives and still need to reset the router every 24- 36 hrs. Anybody having the same problem?

in control panel network ,and sharring click on manage network connection ,and double click your active connection properties ,and uncheck ipv6. Reboot the computer.
Two other things you could try if still lagging update the drivers on your network card ,and also in the properties of that connection uncheck the link layer boxes.

I'm having a similar problem, if I understand the OP correctly. My connection works just fine except that every so often I lose internet connectivity for a few seconds. This seems to happen especially when I'm d/l a file or have several windows/tabs open on firefox. I just bought a new router hoping it would fix the problem, but it hasn't. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
BTW, have already tried switching wireless channels and disabling ipv6. I can pick up quite a few wireless networks from my location (8-10); could these be causing interference?

With the wireless if you haven't already use manual ips on the computer make sure your router firmware is up to date. When vista sp1 gets offically realesed download ,and install. From what I read the sp1 did fix alot networking issues especilly wireless. As stated above drivers are up to date for the nic.

Thanks for the suggestions mccoffee, I appreciate the response.
I tried switching to a static IP but am still having intermittent problems. I looked for firmware updates for my router (Rosewill RNX-G400), but there doesn't seem to be one. What really confuses me is that I always have an "excellent" signal strength and the icon in the status bar never shows me as being disconnected.
I probably should have mentioned before that I had similar problems with my old computer running XP, but I thought the problem was due to my ancient linksys router. Now I have a new machine running Vista and a new router, and the problem remains. Only difference is that with the old router, I would have to manually reconnect, while the new one does it automatically. Also the periods of disconnection are much shorter now.
Any ideas on whether a better wireless adapter would help? I have the generic broadcom 802.11g wireless adapter that came with the computer, and the driver is from 2006, but that seems to be the most up-to-date one.

I don't think it's the adapter I wouldn't jump the gun just yet. The reasoning being is this. In xp3 of xp Microsoft did make a lot fixes ,and patches for wireless that also goes for vista sp1 as well.
I forgot the official release date of both I know sp1 for vista is suppose to be release in Later this month ,and sp3 as well. This a rough guess Ms did make changes to the offical dates ,so I'll double check for ya if i get more infor let you ,and everyone else know.
I've heard that both can be found on the net. Sp1 is in it's final stages and sp3 is still in rc2. In case you wondering I"m wrriting for the masses on this with the xp sp stuff..
I say look for sp1 for vista see if that helps out any if not maybe the adapter is the way to go if the patches ,and fixes don't help any.

Thanks mccoffee, I'll wait on the update and see what happens.
BTW, do you (or anyone else) know how I can do a site survey in Vista? On my laptop, which has XP, I can see which channel other wireless networks are on, but can't figure out how to do this in Vista.

Ok this for you ,and everyone else who has simmiiar issues. If you run windows update it should detect the deivices that is a known device that could benifit from sp1 you should be able to download sp1 through that for the time being between now and the realese date.
