I helped out someone and did a clean load of XP Pro on their somewhat older Dell laptop. It has a Linksys PCMCIA Card which I got working and then connected to my home network, (WPA Security). I had no problems and I have a Netgear Router.

When I took it back to his house I could not get it to connect to his DLink Router thru WPA nor with WEP. I get 0.0.0.0 for IP and when it first connects a message about no certificate could be loaded to connect this computer to this wireless network. It also caused Windows Zero Config Service to shutdown. When I turned off wireless security on his router I was able to connect and everything worked fine.

Any ideas? It seems it has to be something inherently different between the Netgear Router and the DLink Router, but I couldn't find anything.

MOD: Please move to WIRELESS NETWORKING, I didn't realize that was available as a sub-folder until after I posted.
