(due to the suggestion of trogers, i created a new thread..)

hello.

im also a new member here.
and it happened that I read that the community here can help me improve my dsl connection.

I am subscribed to PLDT MyDsl here in the Philippines, the package was, 1mpbs dl / 256 upload.

at most, I am only getting 500kbps DL and 150 UL..

i noticed that you may need the tcp analyzer results and im done getting the results. here it is:

sorry for the late reply, I attended my classes..

before doing your last post, i checked my speed again at speedtest.

http://www.speedtest.net/result/227818596.png (http://www.speedtest.net)

from the initial 500kbps dl speed, it became higher. but still not close to the 1mpbs range.

should i still do the last setting you gave me?

Use the last settings I gave as they are correct. We need to check on signal quality.

Do a tracert to www.yahoo.com and post.

To do a tracert, click 'Start' and then 'Run'. Type "cmd" into the box and click 'ok'.

A DOS black screen will appear. Type after the C:\>

tracert www.yahoo.com

and press enter key

When test is completed, move mouse cursor to the DOS black screen, click right and choose 'select all'.

Move mouse cursor to the Quick Reply box of this forum, click right and 'paste'.

I don't see problem in the tracert. Try testing speed at the following:

I noticed in the test here that my upload speed almost reached the 256kbps UL offer. but my DL speed is barely halfway.

I also tried using the Quezon City server in the Philippines, i got the same results.

if this result becomes constant and stable, ill be satisfied with my connection.

I see a wireless driver in your log. If your comp is connected to a wireless router, your tracert shows that the router function has been turned off as there is no router IP address (192.168.xx.xx) in hop 1.

You should reset your router to factory default by pressing the little reset button at its rear for 5-6 seconds.

Then try the tips for wireless of this thread:

http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?t=203247

i do not use the wireless router. it is turned of.

i am connected via a cable.

trogers
01-29-08, 08:16 AM
The router should always be functioning, whether you connect your comp to it with an ethernet cable or wirelessly. When the router function is turned on, the tracert will show its IP address in the format of 192.168.xx.xx at the first hop.

Your router has probably been set into bridge mode and thus the router function is turned off. Use the reset button to let it make a normal connection.

Make sure your router and modem (if it is an separate device) are separated a few feet and that both are placed a few feet away from ALL other electrical devices.

Your speed fluctuation may be caused by electromagnetic interference affecting the modem.

wait i am confused, is the router the one which you connect the telephone line?

the only thing that is connected to my laptop is that thing, and i do not use any sort of a wireless connection.

What is the brand and model no. of the box that your phone line is connected to and which your comp is also connected to?

This is a router and modem in one device:

http://dareglobal.en.ec21.com/product_detail.jsp?group_id=GC00530386&product_id=CA00530565&product_nm=ETHERNET_ADSL_MODEM

You should read through its user manual to setup for PPPoE or PPPoA following your ISP's system.

MTU for PPPoE would be 1492 and PPPoA is 1500. It should not be set to bridge mode.

Make sure it is placed a few feet away from all other electrical devices. I place mine on the floor under the comp table.

Read the user manual and set up your router/modem correctly for the PPPoE or PPPoA system of your ISP.

Here is a copy of its user guide but for an Indoensian ISP:
