the Cnet review says the program is not for novices. I dont know one thing about this stuff. But I was going to download it and then just plug in your suggestions and leave it alone. Is that alright or do I actually need to know more? Thank you

Test speed at this link using the recommended test server and post your results:
http://www.speedtest.net/
Then run my settings and reboot comp and test speed again to compare.

Well that was fun. NOT. After I changed everything and then restarted I had NO internet connection. So I tried to reboot my cable modem, still no connection and now the Telephone is off as well. OK simple, I will just put the settings back to the way they were....NOPE. I have no idea where the program is that I downloaded! It is not in the program files, not on my desktop. so I search for Optimizer and TCP...yeah a bunch of files I can not open.! Ok now what? Gee this computer is my life as I make a living on it! OK...I will go take a shower.....fell better now but still nothing...restart again...nope. reboot again and go argue with my son for 5 minutes....wha la! Everything is on and running smoothly. I have no Idea what I did or maybe the cable system just had a nervous breakdown but its all better now and I smell good! thanks....I think.

"Telephone is off as well"
Probably a glitch in your phone line as changing settings in your comp will not affect the phone.

The ping time indicated in the test is the time taken for a 32 bytes signal packet sent out by your comp to the test server and it replied back to your comp.

So, the lower the number the slower the computer. Any way to tell why it is slower today then yesterday? And anything I can do about it? Thank you

The lower the numbers, the faster your signals travelled to there and back. It is not a measure of your comp speed. It is the time travelled by your signal within the internet network.
