Hi,
Im a sports trader in the u.k and connect to a betting exchange through A.P.I, The most important factor of my trading is how quickly i can send and receive information to the exchange.
Ive recently moved office and im now looking to tweak my connection(s) and maximize the perfomance of my trading application.
As someone who knows next to nothing about this subject its difficult to know where to start.. heres it goes...
the software i use refreshes the information in two parts :
a) when retrieving information in milliseconds
b) when sending information in milliseconds
Im currently using :
virgin 2mb(cable) and
zen.internet 8mb d/l 800kbps Up/L(adsl)
Since i started trading 2 years ago ive used FIVE i.s.p's. Download speeds dont seem to reflect improvment in refresh rates and stability in the software.
What im trying to understand is the KEY factors which make this software run at optimum level i.e could "ping" to the website that i connect to be the main factor? Is upload speed more important for me? are there any tweaks i can try to enhance these refresh rates and make the software run with more stabilty?
