wep v wpa2

Should changing from wep to wpa2 have slowed down my broadband connection speed

It might but shouldn't be anything noticeable. I use WPA2 for all the wireless networks I setup and get excellent speed. WEP can be cracked in minutes so it would be in your best interests to use WPA2.

WPA is supposed to have less overhead than WEP...so should actually be faster. Certainly can vary though based on various brands, chipsets, efficiency of the router/AP and drivers on the NIC.
