hello,

i recently bought a Comcast modem/wireless router combo and this dumb comcast "tech" came over while i was gone and put passwords on the thing so when i type 192.168.0.1 (the default lynksys ip if this is wrong)
and neglected to tell my mother what it was.
on top of that she disconnected DHCP and assigned static IPs to every1 in the house...fun stuff
now im stuck with a computer that i took to a lan party that never got an IP,
and i dont know the range of the last three digits that the lady assigned for static IPs. (192.168.0.xxx)
basically i need a way to reset the default password on the router so i can enable DCHP and get this wireless working or at least learn the IP range

thanks

The Linksys routers have a reset button on the back or front of them..restores them to factory default settings. I'm surprised Comcast tech actually setup a home router..they usually won't touch end users routers, not supposed to support them.

Is this wireless? If so...you'll need to redo the wireless setup. Surprised they didn't leave you with the password that they changed the router to....I've seen "highspeed" used by them often as the password.

No reason to disable DHCP on the router just because you have static clients...surprised the tech did that also..not a good setup.

k thanks a lot ive been trying to fix this for weeks. and yea i dont know what that lady was thinking. why on earth would she assign statics when she could just assign a WEP for security. not that im that concerned with security lol every1 on this block has highspeed and WEPs can easily be cracked.
oh well thanks again
