Hi guys

My broadband has been intermittent for months and its driving me and my family insane :-(

I'm with Talktalk using a belkin router/modem wired to a PC and running 2 macs and a laptop wirelessly. All of the computers have problems connecting and keeping net connection daily, for example i couldnt connect when i got home from work but now its running fine. It comes and goes throughout the day. Talktalk have said our line is fine, belkin say our settings are correct for the router/modem.

So what now? Ive done some tests but Im not sure what they mean!

Thanks, Laura

Your subscribed speed is 4096 kbps. Your OS is XP SP2 and you have tweaked with Cablenut. That is why your TCP Window is set so high. You must not enter any value for DefaultReceiveWindow when using Cablenut with this OS and should use 130560 for both GlobalMax and TcpWindowSize.

Alternatively, try the following with TCP Optimizer:

General Settings tab:
Custom settings - check
Modify All Network Adapters - check
network adapter selection - your NIC
MTU - 1400
TTL - 64
TCP Receive Window - 130560
MTU Discovery - Yes
Black Hole Detect - No
Selective Acks - Yes
Max Duplicate ACKs - 2
TCP 1323 Options:
Windows Scaling - checked
Timestamps - uncheck

Advanced Settings tab:
Max Connections per Server - 10
Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 20
LocalPriority - 1
Host Priority - 1
DNSPriority - 1
NetbtPriority - 1
Lan Browsing speedup - optimized
QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0
ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0
ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 80
MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0
NetFailureCacheTime - 0
NegativeSOACache Time - 0
LAN Request Buffer Size - 32768
Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect
