Hey guys!
I have a network at home between 2 computers, which goes throught the router (wireless Belkin N1). Thus my laptop is connected through wireless connection and desktop via normal lan wire.
Antivirus (Kaspersky on both) switched off, not to cause any additional mess at this point.
I can see both computers on the netword.
However when i try to connect to the other pc via this connection, first it takes a while to do that about half a minutes (both comuters are intel duo) and than when i want to copy a movie e.g. (which is 700 mb) its takes hours. After waiting for like 5 mins it was still 61 to go... and there were no other apps runnind that could slow cpu down...
Please can anyone generate a solution for me, cause as far as im concernined copying 700mb is usually done within minutes 2-3 not hours.....

700 megs won't be a matter of 5 minutes with wireless.....wireless has too many variables for performance.

What type of wireless NIC does the laptop have? Probably B...so there's 54 megs max..but in the real world usually around 18-22 megs of throughput under ideal conditions. Now introduce other variables like neighboring wireless interference, channels, etc...and those numbers go down.

Hmmm interesting point =)
So i did a small experiment and tried it out with a wire, guess what time to copy 700 mb file reduced to 2 mins, amazing i would say.
Disconnect wire, put back wireless time to copy goes up to about 30 mins...
Hmmm too long!
Can i reduce that amount somehow?
I have a/b/g wireless adapter
Atleast under 10 mins would be much better already, otherwise it makes it pointless to use network =)

The max transfer speed you will ever achieve on wireless G is about half the protocal limit = 27 mb/sec. If use WEP encryption = about 24 max. If use WPA even less.. That's just the way it is, no way to increase the bandwidth.

Faster method is burn to cdr & transfer like that!

Thanks guys for clearing it out for me, I guess connecting a wire will actually save time when transfering files such as movies e.g.
Back to old school :)
