hey everyone

so i just got a 360 elite + xbox live for christmas..
I got it using a deal from Bell (sympatico). they upgraded my internet and gave my mom the 360 cheaper and she gsts to pay it monthly.

so, i tried to get live to work.
first, i wired it to my router, and it worked great. no problems at all..but thats not a good spot for the xbox.

so i set up the PC in my room to share it's wireless connection to the xbox, and give it live..and it worked buy was laggy, and drops my connection..so i bought the wireless adapter.

and i now have the exact same problem. It drops my connection during a game. sometimes it works fine and sometimes it drops my connection multiple times.
what i mean by this, is that when i'm playing halo, it'll bring up the blacks screen that shows the player list, like when you die, but i haven't died. and the connection bar on the side is red (worst connection.)
and whenever im actually playing, it's full green..meaning best connection.

i cant figure out why it does this
i called MS and they told me to use a wired connection
and i said this:
"so, you made me pay $120 ****ing dollars to buy your wireless adapter, and it wont ****ing work, and you wont even help, you just say to use wired. you guys are ****in ridiculous."

before the end of that conversation, they said it may be my internet is too slow..but i said that was wrong, since i UPGRADED my internet for this.
here's my speedtest.net results

so, im thinking that is good enough for live

anyways, here's my idea...if you can help me fix the above problem that is easier..but this is good too.

I use a speedstream 6300 wireless gateway as my modem on my mom's computer. I also have an extra speedstream of the same model, and a normal modem all from bell, since they gave them all to us free :S :P

so, can I use one of the extra's in my room aswell as the one my mom uses in the kitchen? i know i tried it once, but they wouldn't work at the same time.

is there a way to get it to work? because this would really help me.

thanks for any help you can give.

also, i only want to do this if they arent gonna charge me extra $ to use a second modem (or gateway)

This is why I have always used my 360 hard wired and not wireless. I know it sucks because I am limited on distance hardwired, but better than the lag, high pings, etc. And I have a higher speed than you.

Second modem won't work..you'd need a separate account for that.

Troubleshoot your wireless setup.....there is a tips guide stickied at the top of the wireless forum. Unique SSID, try different channels, move the wireless router location around, point antennas in new positions, etc.

Wireless can be a pita. Thats why I am a big wired fan myself as much as possible. Sounds like typical CS from M$. Get use to it. Anyways. Live has been acting up since xmas. They still dont have it straight. Keep trouble shooting or go back with wired. Are you using a software firewall as well?
