After cleaning my old installs off, I ran the download as admin, the install.bat normal. I now get a SMP WU in about 21 hrs. ""When the MPI shuts down the program freezes. I then close the console, wait 5 min, restart, it then runs normally and uploads the WU,downloads a new one and runs untill the next MPI shut down, then repeat.""This obviusely isn't a perfect install but it does get the work done much faster.

allright, giving up on this again :(

ran it since my last post and still can't get to finish a work unit, the longest it went was about 38 frames.

tried lowering my overclock by 100Mhz but same issues.

keep getting some comunications errors, i thought i read about having to set a static IP address on my PC, but not sure if that would help.

part of the log text.............

Hey Mark
I found when all outside conections were blocked I got a com error but I believe mine occurred during the setup phase. I've found spyware to be a real royal pain with their permisions because if you block the wrong thing it really messes up your system. So I consider it a necessary evil. Sorry it didn't work for you. I was really looking forward to the comparison between our two systems. I think they trade robustness ie; error correction, for speed with a lean program. Not that I know anything about programing. Oh that static address didn't need to be set on my system, It was just used internally by the fah program to test your setup. You appear to have gotten past that stage of the program.

maybe i will try lower the overclock some more, it is really stable doing 2 console versions and has been for years.

I thought I'd mention that some hackers love it when when your IP never changes, I try to power down my cable modem regularly but wish I knew a easy way to reset it. I know this kinda belongs elswhere.
