need help for my dad(vista/outlook question)

he has vista and uses outlook for email on his new pc,he can receive emails but it won't send,

what can I tell him to check ?

When an email clent fails to send or receive the client will log the messages from the mail server and/or local comp. There's usually an icon at lower left of the window that can be clicked to view the errors or details.

Most likely one more setting in SMTP/outgoing server properties..checkbox for "Use authentication..same as incoming server".
