My system seems to be eating memory. Its not quite as evident during regular use, but when I start up something like photoshop or a game everything starts to slow. Games get really jumpy.

Take a look and let me know what you think.

AIM has a conflict with Vista, not to mention was always bad since the Triton version. Even the latest AIM 6.5.5.2...it corrupts the Network List service in Vista....and causes a few other chain reactions.

Only "bandaid" fix I've seen with it...they did an update to it within the past week..even though the version still says 6.5.5.2, uninstall your version, reboot, enable UAC, reboot, download and install the latest AIM (or better yet..use a MUCH better IM proggie like Trillian or Miranda or GAIM)...install, if you want UAC off turn it off..reboot...the network list service may remain healthy. AIM is screwy with UAC.

I did a network upgrade at a law firm last weekend, Vista Biz workstations, one staff there had her network connection icon showing not connected (red X) , couldn't browse the network, couldn't modify network properties, hover curser of LAN connection icon in systray and it showed "No Network Server Execution Failed". Found the fix last night at several forums at Microsoft TechNet..many people ran into this problem.

Thanks for the responses. I'll have to take a look into the other messaging programs.

YeOldeStonecat, as far as networking goes, I havent had an issue...yet anyway. Hopefully it will stay that way.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Sidebar] C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe /autoRun

Try to make side bar not automatically start in Windows...
See if that makes a difference too. :)

If you're a single home user..you may not even notice it. The computers will still have internet access fine..and that workstation I just worked on..it was a workstation on a domain, it could still browse the mapped drivers to the server, still run programs from the server, just no browsing in network places, or pulling up UNC shares via run, or allowing remote desktop connections to it. Check event viewer.
