check into the folding smp client, your running multiple core cpu. ( 4 cores i think) so only 1 core is being used and that might explain the slow speeds.

Your link was usefull from what I can tell my gromac runs pretty slowly anyway and I made so many mistakes installing that it's strange that it's running at all.I'll try stopping it reinstalling and starting again.

If you haven't had it running for a little bit the estimation of WU completion is way off.

yea, but 4 hours later and not at least 1 frame finished?

Well I didn't reinstall but played with variouse settings and now my first wu should be done in about 1 hour. So that's about 2 hours per wu, please let me know if thats closer to what I can exspect. If it is I won't reinstall. Thanks for input. OSULLY

thats good. you can still produce more. your only running on 1 core. exactly how many cores do you have?
if you have 4, create another 3 folders and put a copy of the fah app in each one. when you run them, chose "change advanced options" and on the last question, computer id or something like that, start at number 2 and go up for each additional folder

Hey morbid pete

Here goes, it reached the end and restarted from scratch.Soo delete and reinstalled following the instructions at the link you gave me.I'll wait to see if this install works right before trying another. With reading I've found that the four core systems use MPI instead of hyperthreading and that each version of folding should use two cores,I say should but I'm only learning here.I'm badly out of date here and have a lot of reading to do.Based on my CPU usage your absolutely right about only using one core. I've also found that if I let my moniter shut down the folding program stops until I restart the moniter. strange Thanks and I'll let you know how it goes.

yea, hyper threading isn't really 2 cores. it looks that way but it physically is not 2 cores.

the reason it does not run when you close the window is because smp does not run as a service like the normal x86 client does, here's a nice guide to run it as a service in the background.

and help is not an issue. anyone who folds get the full support of speedguide. i just don't know where they are lol (there a lot smarter than me)

OK so I ran the GUI version and it ran stable but took 24 hrs.I finally have the smp version running and will see how it goes.Since I'm new to vista I should be happy for no crashes.Catch you all around.

Why team 15, Speedguide of course.COSULLY. Actually this is a pretty useful site and this way I can feel like I'm contributing in some small way. Oh the fact that that I don't know any other teams doesn't have anything to do with it. My first mpi fold is going to take 1 1/2 days so I'm kind of sad. "They" say they give harder folds to the 4core mpi's so I'm hoping thats all.I've done all but the reg. mod. , yeah I know I'm still long winded. Oh just got my second fahcore running.

was unsure. team number is not that important. Folding is important. Just nice to add more to our numbers. Welcome to the fold. Glad to have ya :thumb:

after you get some WU's done, you will be able to get an image like the one in my sig to keep track of your stats

I managed to get two smps running buuuuuuut two at one time runs 10 times slower than one. I suppose that math isn't verry good. I'll go back to one and try the old console version with. I'm not getting much work done with all this playing around. I keep killing things and starting over. Once I stop playing around the wu's should appear. Thanks again for your help.

Welcome aboard OSULLY :)

The console version still appears to be the simplest for set ups and stability. Thanks for all your efforts. :)
