I am very green to networking and please excuse me for any dumb questions I may ask.
I am trying to set up a VPN conection to my work. We have a very small network The main computer is running windows XP pro and I have set it up to except and incomming VPN conection. The client computer at my house is a windows xp home system with remote conections.
at work we have a Linksys BEFSR41 router.
First thing I did was on the work computer I went to run and typed cmd and then ipconfig to find the IP address. "xxx.xxx.x.100" well I went home and typed this in the home computer clicked conect and then the account info. All I got was "can not connect to the remote computer"
I then started reading up to find that the router is most likely blocking the connection.
I went into the router and checked for VPN to find that everything is enabled.
I am guessing that I need to forward some port or something but looking at the router got me very confused. I aslo noticed when looking aroung the pages in the router that the three computers in the network were listed with IPs of xxx.xxx.x.101, xxx.xxx.x.102, and xxx.xxx.x.103.
Any help getting this set up would be great.
Please give me as easy to follow instructions as possinble as I said I realy have no idea what to do.
