I 've been trying to set up a network for a very small office... 2 computers one wired WinXP SP2 Pro desktop to the linksys router wrt-54gs and one wireless Vista Home Basic laptop... had them working together using setup in windows could use printer that was on the desktop... now just installed a dsl modem and now both computers can access the internet but the laptop cannot see the other computer or access the printer any more... I have no experience with networking . I have read dozens of threads but can't figure how to make the information apply to what I'm doing... please help a newb . thanks for any help that you might be able to offer.

What make/model DSL modem?
Is it a combo modem/router that's already doing NAT?
How is the wrt connected to it? The PCs still all connecting to the wrt?

the dsl modem is siemens Speed stream 4200 from windstream .it is just a modem as far as i can tell . the modem is connected to the internet port on the wrt. my wired desktop is hooked up to the wrt by cat 5 cable and the laptop can connect to internet with the wireless part of the wrt. but cant see the desktop or any files on it. the desk top can see the public files on the vista laptop but that is all . the laptop can't print to the printer that is attached to the desktop. that is my major concern though...

Run an ipconfig on the main PC..note it's LAN IP address, probably something like 192.168.1.100
From the laptop, can you ping that IP address, and get replies?
Ensure that whatever firewalls are on the main PC..have local file and print sharing allowed in the exceptions.
