I have 2 pcs running XP home sp2 with enough speed and plenty of HD space and both have working NICs. When my d-Link 4 port router is working both pcs can use the internet via direct port cables. My router is dead so I need another access path.
My pcB has a printer attached as well as the NIC to internet connection. I would like to have pcA access pcB and do file transfers and have pcA send print jobs to pcB.
I understand that one can connect pcs via a cat5 crossover cable which I have. Where do they connect and how can I set up the XP software in each pc to do the above functions?
Can I also have pcA connect to the internet via pcB? Until my router is fixed I just change cables manually.
