using ssh

hey,
im new on this site
i hope im posting this in the right spot...

i am behinda filter and i cant download or view even regular pages such as gmail

ive tried everything but proxies are even hard to come by -they work sometime but not for downloading

i am trying to look into ssh so maybe i can use the protocols from somewhere else
but i dont know much about it nor how to set it up

im on a windows vista
if someone could help me it would be greatly appreciated

i downloaded putty but i cant seem to get the tunneling to work
im using freeshell.org
