Hello, I live in Israel. I tried already 3 ISPs and it's all the same. My internet is slow: takes time to load pages, download speed is really slow (but only when downloading something, because when I do a speed test it always shows fine), ping is extreemely high to everywhere (take UK for example - about 200+ ms, sometimes about 150 and still it's too much!). About online gaming - I won't even start talking about my lag!
I have 3MB cable internet (I don't really know my upload speed but it's about 150 or so), my ISP is good, but they don't know what to do to fix my problem either :'(

Here's a speed test in Israel where I live (it was the recommanded server aswell):

http://www.speedtest.net/result/184441837.png (http://www.speedtest.net)

And here's London which is not too far from Israel:

http://www.speedtest.net/result/184441141.png (http://www.speedtest.net)

Great pings eh? Even in Israel my ping is high...

Here's TCP Analyzer results:

Help would be greatly appreciated because I am so desperate I think of giving up playing my favourite online game Quake III Arena and maybe even giving up on internet for that matter. I am tired of waiting till pages load and downloading for 15 minutes a 2MB file. I am paying big money for that 3MB connection but I don't even get 3MB :'(

My lag is horrible and I often miss a lot of the game, people complain as well that I lag badly. My ping is bad and I am the only one with ping not only above 100 but up to 200.

Here's the trace of 3 servers in different locations:

That's ok. Just apply the tweaks and your registry will be adjusted. Reboot comp to take effect and post a new TCP Analyzer report to confirm correct settings.

I moved the cable modem 2 feet above the TV, DVD, cable reciever, speakers, computer and all the other stuff. It's very close to the ceiling but I got a little air conditioner (that is always off) there - about 5 inches from the cable modem, it's fine right?

Also, my ping in game haven't changed, 150-200ms and the lag is the same. What else can you recommend me doing?

VioZed

I remember when I only got cable, I thought it's cool, like I have cable TV and phone and not internet.
My pings to europe were 50-90ms and no lag at all, just like when I still was on ADSL.
I had 0.5MB internet back then and it was faster than the 3MB I have now. It was all cool and nice for about a month.
Then after 1 month of nice smooth playing and surfing on the net it all began.
I have cable for 5 years and 9 days and for 4 years 11 months and I don't really know the exact number of days I have speed problems; a lot of fun eh?
I used to call my ISP everyday besides Saturday a few times a day.
We rulled out my computer as the problem maker also rulled out the cable company; it took a year of calling and annoying them untill I knew for sure it's not coming from them.
We rulled out that it's the ISP's fault because they checked everything there is and I changed ISPs 3 times.
I also changed computers in those 5 years. I personally chose the parts for the computer I am using now as well as putting the whole computer together.
I have an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor, Asus A8N-E motherboard, Twinmos 2 sticks of 512MB - thus 1024MB of RAM, nVidia GeForce 6600 video card.
I reinstalled Windows a few times already, even tried Vista but it didn't solve my problem. I keep my computer always up-to-date.
I clean all the internet stuff and I use ad-aware and a few more programs for cleaning the registry and unused files and all.
I use AVG antivirus and I don't use firewall.

If space is congested, place the modem under the comp table if you are using a wired connection.

Tweak does not lower ping time, but only ensure stable ping time and speed. Ping time depends largely on your signal route and traffic congestion to the game server, especially at the international gateway in an overseas connection.

Check the website of your ISP to see if they are doing some upgrading works and thereby diverting traffic to the intermediate routers at hop 4 of all your tracerts. You can note the spike in ping times at hop 4 when they are much higher than those in hop 5.

If s, you will have to wait out for upgrading works to complete and traffic and ping times revert to normal conditions.

Sometimes its just net traffic... not much you do besides running around and unplugging several million people's modems.

Find a better server to game on or closer.

4 years I have lag and high ping, with all my ISPs, this is probably a lost case :)
Thanks anyway, I guess that is a mystery that cannot be solved...

there are no closer and those are the best of all the others where my ping is 300-400 to the same UK and the lag is unbearable :)
Well no worries, I managed to live with that for 4 years though I was really concidering to give up using the internet and just remove my account once and for all, so I froze it for a month, came back all happy to have internet again but then after a few minutes I regreted coming back :D
