I know it sounds daft, but I bought a wireless router last year and didn't secure it. So now i'm no doubt providing wireless web access for the whole town.

Thing is, my router's a nice, plain grey box. Not a mark or logo in sight. So how do I secure it? I just can't work out a way to do it, and at this rate it seems like the only option i'll have is to buy a new router and do it properly!

Hi
You will have to go to the homepage of the router eg this can be found by looking at the staus of the connection between the router and the pc it should start as 192.168.x.xx. It should tell u there what make it is. But once u have the name of the router...google it and it should have a user guide...as I am not totally sure how your router configures.....hope this helps

You will need to access the router's configuration page to set up security. To determine its IP, go to start/run type in cmd, hit enter and then type in ipconfig /all and determine your gateway IP.
Open IE and type that IP in the address bar and hit enter. That should take you to the setup page. You will then know the make of the router and from there determine the necessary username/password to enter.
