Disapearing Icons

My Internet Explorer icon on the top of the start menu keeps disapearing. I tried to uninstall and then reinstall and the icon is there, but when I open IE once, the icon disapears. It looks like it cant find it. All that is there is the blank shortcut icon. I also tried to disable it from the menu and then restart it but that didnt work. Its not a huge deal other than it looks like something is missing up there and if someone else wants to use the computer then it would probably be good to have the icon.

Im running XP Pro SP2.
